Our Story
Two brothers, one recipe box, and a city that felt like home
Señor Tequila began with brothers Andres and Juan Pablo Perez, who spent months searching Michigan for the right place to open a restaurant of their own.
A chance meeting with a group of Port Huron locals — met while the brothers were working at Jose's Mexican Restaurant in Sault Ste. Marie — led them downtown. There, they found a building on Huron Avenue with decades of history as a neighborhood gathering spot, once home to Martina's Grill and, before that, the Huron Athletic Club.
In October 2022, that building became home to the recipes passed down through the Perez family — and to a restaurant the brothers hoped would feel like part of the community from day one.
